AECOM , Director
Michael Timmins is a Director at AECOM and leads the Water team in the North of England. Michael has nearly 20 years of water and flood risk management experience both in the UK and internationally and has worked both in the public and private sectors. His technical background is in hydrology, water management and flood and coastal risk management and he has led numerous strategic studies across the UK including FCERM strategies, SFRAs and LFRMS (some of the largest include Leicester, the Greater London Authority and the Association of Greater Manchester authorities).
Michael has also used his expertise to support on major infrastructure and natural resources projects both in the UK and internationally. Projects range from major highways and rail schemes to renewable power schemes, oil and gas projects, international development projects and risk identification and preparedness studies. Internationally, Michael has carried out hydrological and flood risk studies and provided environmental, water resource and flood risk advice for natural resources operations in West Africa, for hydropower projects in Africa and South East Asia and for flood risk studies in the Middle East and India.
Michael is a member of the CIWEM Rivers and Coastal committee and has a keen interest in Flood Management, especially in the face of climate change.
