Derby City Council , deputy leader
In 2010 Matthew became deputy leader of Derby City Council with cabinet portfolio that included regeneration, planning and climate change. It was during this time that he led on several key strategic projects in Derby including the initial planning stages and consultation for Our City Our River.
He left that role in 2012 and went on to further establish himself as a leading Derby City councillor.
In 2018 he took the role of Deputy Leader of the Council for the second time and currently holds a portfolio that includes Strategic Regeneration, Planning, Inward Investment and Transport.
Matthew has enjoyed a varied career in the music industry, leisure and retail sectors and is currently a Senior Network Specialist within the NHS, a role he continues to hold alongside his busy council work.
