Yorkshire Water and Living with Water Partnership , portfolio manager
Following several years as an operational Catchment Manager in Waste Water, Martin was seconded into a couple of roles for Kelda – initially supporting the recovery of the Organic Energy Programme in Edinburgh, then to Lead the Flood Recovery team following the Boxing Day Floods of 2015, then most recently working within the Flood and Coastal Risk and Engagement Team where Martin reviewed Waste Operations on the coast ad developed a revised coastal strategy for implementation by the business.
Amongst the Business as usual activities – working with Sheffield University and in the early stages of hopefully securing a c£150k grant for Rain Water Harvesting. Working with YW Ops to deliver a EA approved emergency pumping plan for Hull continues as does a scheme for creating a wetland and re-profiling land on the Holderness drain are some of the projects Martin is focussing on at the moment.
Living with Water in Martin’s words is important because:
I have chance to make a difference – a real difference, doesn’t often come by. For me the Living with Water partnership has that opportunity – not just in the here and now but for years to come. We have the chance to shape the way teams work and think and share – true collaboration with each other – but more importantly – with communities… with them we can deliver ‘Awesome.’
