A Chartered Civil Engineer with circa 40 years of working in the construction industry. After working for contractors and consultants, I joined the National Rivers Authority (one of the Environment Agency predecessor organisations) in 1992.  Since then, I have project managed a variety flood and coastal defence projects from rock armour defences on the Lincolnshire coast to building floodwalls through Northampton.  I have also worked on the Humber and the Thames and I spent ten years of my career strengthening and raising over 30 km of flood embankments on the River Witham between Lincoln and Boston, which included the excavation of an Iron Age log boat.  Since 2008, I have been the Project Manager delivering the Ipswich Tidal Barrier, this has involved tie in flood walls to the high ground, diversion of two 132 kV cables from under the barrier to finally completing the barrier itself.A Chartered Civil Engineer with circa 40 years of working in the construction industry.
