I am the lead for the development of the new flood and coastal risk management strategy for England. I was also the lead writer for the draft strategy published in May 2019. Together with my team we are shaping how flooding and coastal change will be managed over the course of the next 100 years. In developing the strategy I listen to the views of stakeholders, take account of government policy and take expert advice to ensure it is ambitious but grounded in a reality that people get behind and deliver. I have work confidently with senior leaders and policy makers to ultimately ensure people and the environment are more resilient to the flooding and coastal change, something which will only become more important with climate change. Outside of work I am the County Commissioner for Nottinghamshire Scouts. I am responsible for the direction and growth of a charity that is over 10,500 strong and that has inclusion and youth focus at it's core.
