I am a 50-year-old Senior Associate Director in Jacobs, and have spent the majority of my 28 year career in developing, designing, consenting and constructing major flood protection schemes across Scotland. These projects include diverse flood mitigation measures including online flood storage reservoirs, direct defence walls and embankments, repurposing existing reservoirs, replacement bridges and culverts, managed retreat and nature based solutions. Many of these projects have woven multiple local community benefits into the scheme, including active travel routes, improved services and utilities and significant biodiversity improvements. Using these experiences, I currently provide a mentor role to emerging FRM projects. I am a dad to three teenage girls and, in what’s left of my spare time, enjoy the great outdoors.
