Case study: Benacre – Coastal resilience through nature

-

Presentation

At Benacre, a critical pumping station was under immediate threat from rapid coastal erosion. Rather than simply defending the structure, the project team took a bold approach: relocating the pumping station to a safer position inland and transforming the original site into a new natural nature reserve.

This case study will explore how the project delivered resilience for local communities while embracing a nature-based solution that provides long-term ecological benefits. Delegates will gain insight into the challenges of managing coastal erosion in vulnerable areas, the engineering and environmental solutions applied, and how infrastructure relocation can unlock opportunities for habitat creation and biodiversity gain.
